Dr. Albertina Donaldson is currently a Public Health Nurse II division of Covid Research Bureau at the Chicago Department of Public Health. Dr. Donaldson provides guidance to daycares and schools regarding infection control migration strategies, grouping, ratio & staffing, screening and testing protocols and contact tracing related to covid 19 infections. She works closely with the multidisciplinary teams within her department and help disseminate the most current recommendations and guidance issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Center of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) regarding covid research. Dr. Donaldson earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois with a focus in Community Health in 2016. She earned a Master of Science in nursing with a focus in Nursing Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Governors’ State University as well. Dr. Donaldson earned a certification in School Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021. She previously served as the House Administrator of Juvenile Temporary Detention Center from 2017 – 2021. She served as a nursing educator in both the practical and bachelor nursing programs from 2014- 2019. Dr. Donaldson has additional prior leadership experience as the Administrative Nursing Supervisor in the hospital settings throughout the Chicagoland area. She enjoyed a rich and fulfilling leadership position at Mt Sinai Hospital, Little Company of Mary and Methodist Hospital. Dr. Donaldson's research interests are in relationship-based care, public health, nursing education and nursing leadership. During her graduate studies at Governors’ State University, Dr. Donaldson collaborated on a research project called “Girls’ Talk. Girls’ Talk is a program created for girls 11 – 18 years old. This program is a 10-week program that introduced topics and discussions meant to inspire middle and high school girls to be confident leaders through mentoring. Dr. Donaldson’s capstone project, The ABCs of Nursing Education, focused on the importance of continuing education for nurses in the community. She designed a continuing education program for a home healthcare facility that enhanced nursing knowledge and leadership acumen. Dr. Donaldson received training and education from the Office of the Illinois Attorney’s General on Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). Her dissertation focused on Sexual Abuse Training for nurses in the Emergency Room.
